i opted for zz3's fitted with new wheels similiar pattern to f1's but look as if they would get rid of water better, not tried them yet though

Good question to put to the vote....its not as if you can try before you buy, and if you buy wrong, you is stuck with em for a year or two...Ive only really touched Toyo / Goodyear myself...I have great trust in Toyo Proxes but Im on F1s now and would go for F1s next without a second thought, unless the great Supra public can advise otherwise.

all are a very good tyre apart from the nankangs but eagle f1's do seem to be the most popular on here

I used Proxes on my Celica, but I found them to be too soft - didn't last as long as I hoped. I switch to the (harder) ZZ3s and the only difference was the lasted alot longer. (I know that you can't really compare tyre performance from a front wheel drive Celica with the Supra :p )

I went straight for the F1s for the Supra after reading comments posted on here. :respekt: Grip is superb, wet or dry...they don't like the snow though

HOLY FUCK  I can't believe you even listed Avons with those others!!!

Avon sport tyres are utter shit. I had the ZZ1's previous, dodgy dry grip and laughable wet grip - proper hedge jumpers. I will NEVER touch another Avon car tyre EVER.

Goodyear F1's GSD3 get the most consistent recommendations and I for one swear by them, on numerous cars they shine. The T1-S are almost as good. T1-R are better than S but wear quicker.

Nankang - WTF er no.

If you want a half decent budget tyre then Falken F451 is your only choice IMHO.

uk dude, avons are good for wear - thats because they are sooooo hard and thats the reason they are so shit compared to the others! A softer compound will always give better performance.

I've found the F1's offer the compromise between all weather performance and tyre longevity.

At the end of the day, if you are buying a performance car you are stupid to scrimp on your tyres as after all they are what put it all to the road. You could have the fastest car in the world but with shit tyres whats the point. If you are gonna have the car, don't be a pikey and get crap tyres. If you can't afford the running costs don't buy the car.

Simple as. Sorry if that sounds harsh.........

Not really they were on the car when I got it so didn't really know any different and have lasted till now. Now it needs new rears I thought great time to get some Goodyear F1's but they dont do them in standard 16" wheel size so I'm looking for something else but I'm not happy to buy tyres that last 2000 miles no matter how good the grip is.

Bridgestone RE050a -why? mega high traction off the line totally controlable and predictable breakaway, exceptionally low noise - a very important feature for a Supra, great in the wet. I have tried Yoko AVS, goodyear, p-zeros, S02's, S03's etc and these are the daddy of them all for a road/trackday master.

Someone REALLY needs to chill out, we are talkin tyres!

god! :rlol:

REALLY huh  Well you've obviously not used them then.

So the 4 tiny patches of rubber that keep you on the road mean shit huh? . I mean, why bother with pressures then as well, run them flat

We're talking about tyres huh? So would you be happy with something on a car that could put you through a hedge? Tyres are as important as ANY other component eg brakes. If you don't think so then I'll cross my fingers for you :p

Thats fair play mate, you don't have to stick with 100% stock size, stay as close as you can to rolling circumference. Eg my 1.9 GTi 205 is 185 55 15 tyre wise, but I can get away with using 195 50 15 as the actual difference is minimal and there are more tyre available in that size......

Try the below, if it helps :)

I'd never buy Avons again after my ZZ1 experience, once bitten twice shy! On a TT I'd think a hard compound tyre would be bordering on downright dangerous!!!

Heard good things about Toyo's - anyone ever tried their R888 tyres, mega grippy road legal race tyres IIRC but probably don't last long, probably only good in the dry too!
