Question about JDM ECU/Single T61/550cc Injectors

I was told that I could - if I wanted to, pretty safely run some 550cc Injectors, with a Fuel Pressure Regulator, and a T61 ALL on the Stock JDM ECU with no piggy backs or any fuel management. Is this True? Can it be done? I was told the JDM ECU will run the 550's but I'll run rich up top. Has anyone tried this?

My JDM Twins are leaking oil and I'm either going to replace them or go Single. Thanks.

Hi there,

I'm afraid that's not possible.

For starters do you know that the US spec 550's are Low Impedence and require the US/UK resistor pack?

And for seconds I've seen a JDM try to run 550's and it wouldn't leave the garage....or start after a while.

You will have to trim back the fueling at low speed and the 550's will only just be man enough to get you to 1.2bar on the T61.

If you weren't fitting the T61 I'd suggest lowering the static fuel pressure to run the 550's on the stock ECU...but as you do have the T61 it's definately fuel computer time.

Sorry, still tired :D I was aiming for injector size, even though you can't get 528cc's. So in short, what's thee max size injectors the Emange will control??

It will TRY to controll anything - but you can only back it off by 50% so I'd say 50% bigger than stock is your limit. Which is 880cc....but considering I back off 650's by about 40% it's not going to work - unless you're producing so much power that the 880's are getting pushed hard....and I'd hate to think how bad the idle would be.

Personally I think 800/850 is the upper limit. But if you're producing the power to need them then you really should be investing in a proper ECU.

control well I would go max 800cc, you will need timing mods throughout your map to compensate

I back off 720's by 40% tops as well. You can play with the static fuel pressure to compensate for bigger injectors but, hmm, that lowers their flow capacity anyway so why not run smaller ones in the first place :) Although the 850cc is a drop-in so that's why I guess haha thiking while I type, as ever.

850's on a T61 with stock static fuel pressure needed 50% drops and it still wasn't enough...

how did the CLC cope with the larger injectors FWIW? The VVTi CLC had a good go at 650's on idle with no adjustment

I run 0 correction on a warm idle....what does that tell you ;) :p

I wonder if it's an ODB2 thang? As we've had rumours of bigger injectors being used on stock ECU's.

EDIT- doh - lowered my fuel pressure to 34psi....I'll shut up. It's about -10 with normal pressure.

I have to pull airflow with 720's on non-VVTi, but the closed loop still works within that. It can still balance for stoich under idle and cruise, although it's a little more heavy-handed in it's adjustments (naturally as it adjusts duty so with bigger injectors it's a bigger step). The cams exacerbate the situation at idle but it's only kinda lumpy rather than trying to stall or anything daft.

I really need to get my head around the EMU at some point. Be good to see any info you have at some point

So would I - like can it sort my warm start....I think it could with the temp based maps it has, but I can't waste £500 in a risky adventure to find out....

I need to as well. I need that injector harness to run it though but guess who's still hasn't turned up 3 days after everyone else's
