Hey, other folks may well get more power out of higher boost, I'm just saying that I didn't, or at least, nothing noticeable, so why bother stressing the engine any more? Trying this on the Thor Dyno at Billing might be an idea, it's a relatively easy job getting the restrictor plate out in order to test the power levels at higher boost...

Terry, I'm a simple bloke and do not try to hide the meaning of something behind words. I'm a "See what you say, when you see it" chap.

It was not boring, I enjoyed reading it so, just wanted to say thanks to Ian!

If I thought it was Cr@p then I would not have commented.

There was an unconfirmed rumour in the mobile telecommunications press that 3 major players were interested in using a Mr Chisholm as the first UK mobile antenna. The only concern expressed was that he has a history of detroying expensive data retriving equipment.........

So as long as you're not detting, and your EGT's are below 950ish, then your engine should be safe, yes? I'm going to have to drive round on my new setup pretty much unmapped for a month; I'm happy to take it steady as I will be running the new engine in etc, but it would be nice if I could give it a bit of stick just for a few seconds to see what happens :p Obviously if my EGT warning goes off I'll lift off so fast I'll kick myself in the head . . .

Ian, thats a bit risky chap.

I know you are fitting bigger injectors etc. so I would reccomend having a stock fuel system and ECU whilst running in. You really don't want a wobbly fuel or ignition map whilst trying to run an engine in. Even with low boost. Once you've got some miles on the old girl you can start playing about with fancy fuel setups.

MY NAME IS ADAM!!!! :D

I actually had it mapped last month with the 680 injectors, precisely because I didn't want ot borewash the new motor when running it in. Thing is, that was with my old hybrid and now I have a turbo that's twice the size. So closed loop etc I should be pretty much OK, I dunno what's going to happen if I get some air moving though . . .

Adam I am sure you will me able to resist, just because of the £'s effort you have put in. I look forward to seeing it go.

About thirty at the moment, I'm really struggling just to get it off the driveway!!! I may have it sussed but I've pissed the neighbours off enough this afternoon (someon from 1/4 of a mile away wandered over to complain about the noise!) so will leave it for a couple of hours before trying again.

You know what I've got strapped to it Terry, you tell me the numbers! :innocent: Traction will be more of an issue than bhp I think ;)

Adam, I know what it will flow but I have no idea what the MK3 engine is capable of. What psi are you going to run?

Why oh why do I KEEP getting you and Ian mixed up? Theres definately something odd going on here.

Please accept my apologies and to this end I give you full permission to slap me about the face with a wet fish whilst chanting 'I will not buy this Red Snapper' under the infulence of some Barcardi.

Glad you had the sense not to borewash the new engine.......:)

Terry: He should be making around 230 bhp. Like your 276 bhp;)
