terribleturner
Just wondering if anyone had taken their car for an mot yet with no cats in and passed?? Just worried about my 94 J-Spec and want to know what my chances are?? Also can i replace number 2 by jacking up just the front of the car?? carl0s
By new MOT do you mean the fact that it's now computerised? I passed anyway.
Rob
You can replace No.2 Cat by jacking front and rear on the drivers side only, I've found.
Aerotop Dave
Can't you just take it down the local Kwikfit and slip the bloke a tenner to refit it?
terribleturner
May see if it'll go through with any cats then. I would go down Kwick Fit but they are always really busy. May just slip number 2 on tomorrow before i go down there, that's if it's not too cold in the morning Wish me luck.
Wez
If you have a mappable ECU could you not create an MOT map. What are they measuring exactly as I have no cats and its not exactly easy to put one in as i have a custom single piece downpipe.
chris aka fonz
Get yourself well in with a mechanic and hopefully he'll turn a blind eye , like mine

Wez
Thats what i normally do but the new ones are working to get around that problem arent they? Last couple of MOTs have not been a prob as the car has passed with no cats. How can they change the figures for older cars anyway as surely its an unfair test if the car was originally only intended to reach a certain value which they have now adjusted. terribleturner
Yeah the new system is different, so your not go benifit from making friends with the MOT man. I know a 93 Will pass with no cats, but i think that's because anything before 94 doesn't need a cat. On the bonus side because it's an import they wont have proper figures for them (hopefully) yet. chris aka fonz
I was told by the mechanic that they would use figures from another car or something along those lines to get around it .

how_supra
Won't it be classed as "toyota other"?
Pete
I'd like to see them select VVTi TT from the list..
tbourner
Why does it being computerised make any difference? I'm sure my decatted silver Supra looks almost identical to that other silver Supra on the ramp next to it that just so happens to have both cats in - that could create some confusion when it comes to sticking the probe in the exhaust surely? Jake
If the tester wanted to he could do the emissions test at tickover rather than at 3000rpm like he's supposed to.
