Branners
its a never ending story if you let it go that way. You can go single with the same level of upgrades you would for a decent sequential system. You need enough fuel to keep up with the boost you choose. If you stick at 1.2bar then you need less fuel, if you want to get up to the efficiency levels of the turbo you need 1.4bar and more fuel. If you want to be able to play with the ECU settings you can start at a SAFCII, more expensive is the E Manage Blue, then the Emanage Ultimate and then the AEM and then the Motec. You need to be driven in a few single turbo cars of different tuning levels to understand the difference. A car on a budget single upgrade will still feel quick and be quick, a car like Terrys or CJs will be much faster but will you ever use that additional power? Only time I have felt inadequate in a supra is when Im racing a tuned supra, apart from that I could run my car at 1.2 bar day in and day out and still enjoy it. Gazboy
As silly as this sounds, but you should blag a ride, if not a drive, of various members cars, that are similar to yours (ie a jdm auto or whatever yours is), and compare budget singles, not so budget singles, bpu+, hybrids- as long as it's the same type of base car, and the mods are otherwise similar except the blowing bits! Branners
we need to arrange a single turbo pub meet some time and get those people interested in single turbos along to see what the cars can do. Or try and hire an airfield again for a proper thrash. JB

JohnA
without first-hand experience of these mythical beasts I can't make up my mind if it's worth going that route. people speak of the awesome kick etc, then go and praise Harry Potter (well, you know what I mean, it's all relative) A 40-100mph figure would be a better real-life indication, ideally measured via an accelerometer. If a car does it in 4-5 seconds then you know it's something special, if it's 7secs it's glorified BPU. (in my own view only, please don't be offended)
Class One
Well having been in CJ's which is running a T67 is it? 40-100 is dusted off in the blink of an eye. where it really shone (on a private road ) was its 80-140 run.Awesome I've also driven Clarkey_Sparkeys car which is running the BLt61 budget kit. Its not fully sorted yet, but again a very quick car much faster than it was when he was BPU. The best thing about them tho is the power delivery. Much much better than the sequential set up.(IMO) I'd love to go single. But it would cost me far more than the £5-10K you'd need to get a proper job done ( far more in some cases eh Col ) like my marriage, house etc. The power tho, something i'll never forget. CJ
I have just changed to a T71 turbo and it is even more powerful now. I took it out this afternoon and it really frightened me So much so, I stayed out for even longer and did it several times more
Matt Harwood
So much so, I stayed out for even longer and did it several times more LOL! JB, I'm more than happy to attend a 'single thrash', (as usual, any excuse! ), but we could really do with a longer strip than Bovingdon to show what a single can do. Mine was just starting to get into it's stride by the time I had to start braking!

Gazboy
That is plan a, this is plan b, I've been out in terry's and that was something a little special! Terry's is something else! It pulls like my stocker from nothing- but you get what you pay for- a 'bog basic' single I've been in had nowt below 4k- imo that is far to much of a trade off against bpu+ (not been in a hybrid so will reserve judgement until then). I'm only going to go as far as BPU in this car, and get a six speed if I go single, or more likely px this car for one that's already been done. If Dude is really bored he could figure out how to make GT25/30's work as seq's! Lol.

mr keef
IMHO it all depends on just how far you willing to have ya eyes taken out!i will be going the usa route, but if money is no object then yea, spend silly money here in england.i dont care what anyone says,i will be single in the next few months and like my intercooler,i wont be waking up with Petroleum Jelly round me bum hole and a tuner lying next to me smoking a ciggie
