just double checking EGT temps.

hello guys, I have a quick question.

I mounted my EGT probe in downpipe (as close as I could to the turbos), and I know some of you guys will just say this is usless, it has to be mounted in runner 1 or 6, so yes I know that, but I would really really hate to destory the turbo if the probe breaks on me, so I just went for the downpipe.

so for those of you who mounted their probes after the turbos, what's the max EGT are you guys getting (knowing the boost and fuel mods will help big time tho)

so far, I am getting 600C-700C crusing at around 120-140 kmph (off boost), and once I step on it in 3rd gear to almost redline I get around 750C MAX, I have not tried to floor it in 4th or 5th tho.

this is with stock turbos, stock fuel system, FMIC, HKS cams, and 1 bar of boost. oh it's 95 UK specs,

how about you guys (talking to the people with EGT probe mounted after turbos)

thanks

ok, so I am abit on the hot side, do you guys think the cams are causing that? or it might be that the fuel pump is just too old and not pumping as it should?

I also have S-AFC but I did not install it yet, would that help (richen things a bit) but here is what I am not sure of, I am using the greddy FCD, and I am thinking that might be causing the lean condition (I have it set at 4.28 volts), so if I were to use the S_AFC with that (on the line that goes from FCD to ECU, on other words after the FCD) and use the S-AFC to richen things up, would not that cause the fuel cut to show up again? the reason why I am thinking this is because the AFC uses the map signal to alter the fuel, so if I want to add more fuel I have to trick the ECU by raising the Map voltage so the ECU thinks there is more pressure than what is already there and add fuel according to that, but would not raising the Map voltage (by AFC) defeats the purpose of FCD (clamping the voltage at 4.28 in my case). I hope I am making sense here :innocent:

what you guys think?

and if I should replace the fuel pump, should I go with the stock denso unit or wallbro pump (my supra is UK/USA specs)

thanks a lot guys.

I am peacking 791, thats with 10 yr old SMIC and the sensor in the decat pipe.

Sounds ok to everyone:???

Terry saying that he had a 200 degrees difference could mean im hitting nearly 1000????? prob??

If it were mine I would be worried. 791 in the decat pipe will equal at least 200+ in the chambers so well into the 1000+ range. I have my limit set to 950. with the probe in no 1. The highest iget is 760. At 1.2bar with a Trust SMIC

Ahmed, I have my sensor installed after the turbo too, max I get these days is around 650C after extended turbo use. You can see my spec if you click on my car in the sig below. I'd agree with Terry that it is around a 200C difference before and after the turbo.

thanks for the help Nic.

so it seems that I need to richen things up a bit.

I will be getting a new supra TT UK specs stock pump. do you think this will be enough, or I should get injectores as well. what size injectores should I go for tho. (stock UK Spec turbos) or a new pump will do the trick (I guessing my fuel pump is getting kidda old and not pumping enough juice for the turbos even at low boost (0.8 bar still gives me around 760 EGT). I am not planning to upgrade the turbos soon, so I just need enough fuel for the stock turbos. I also have S-AFC that I can use with bigger injectores if that's needed.
