bromy
A loud whining/groaning noise has developed when turning the steering whilst stationary does anyone know what it could be? my bets are on power steering or water pump, i have also noticed whilst the car is getting warm as normal it takes the heater longer to get warm air blowing through it and unless i really give it some pedal (when the engine is warm) does warm air start to come through the heater. Any ideas? or how much for water pump/big job

Clarkey
Sorry can't help diagnose your fault .. but If it's the water pump .. then from Toyota will cost about £140. Mark @ Phoenix can probably source you one cheaper. If it's the waterpump .. then the crank pulley will need removing. You may well get the Cam belt changed at the same time. A fairly involved job - but easier with a Single on.
Steve
Have you tried bleeding the system. to make sure you have no air trapped in there? And is your power sterring fluid low?

Guru
The whine will be power steering pump and the heater is something else I guess. Anyone know how much Toyota will charge to buy and fit a new one?

Are you sure? Can't I just loosen the tensioner and remove the belt that way?
