dangerous brain
Does anyone know anything about these cars? I've been offered one as part of a px deal for my car. Sounds like a decent enough motor but with 120k miles on it on a 91 plate I'm worried I'd just not be able to shift it on. It has sportline spec, black leather, full history, amg alloys, cars silver not that yakky white, private plate sort of hides the age, its been a bit lowered and recently serviced to include new exhaust, leads, wheel bearings, brakes, and a quote spotless engine. Its a classicish motor in an area full of old people that like that kind of thing I must admit I am tempted.

dangerous brain
Yup its that one but in silver, the white looks awfull. If I can't shift the supe I am going to have to start considering my options. My drive space is just about to become very tight and I'd do better to have a fair few grand in my pocket and a car I don't have such an emotional attachment to. garethr
The W124 has the reputation of being one of the best-made cars ever. Prone to oil leaks from the headgasket IIRC.
dangerous brain
its a motor worth considering taking on if i can sell it ok. Be a useful lump of cash whilst I wait for it. Less seasonal to worry about as well.

dangerous brain
Yeah I put him onto you as he said he could afford your sort of money without selling his own car but not the asking price on mine.
Darren
I reckon its worth in and around 5.5-6k depending on condition. You might end up getting stuck with it at that money. It probably trades at about £2k so thats what you should be offering him. All over the trader from £3k upwards heres one: 1990MERCEDES-BENZ 300CE 2dr Coupe, leather, full electrics, FSH, Auto cruise, excellent cond, lovely drive, 12mnths MOT, taxed, new car forces sale, black. £3,995. ono. Tel: 01925 860990 or 07860 959506 Distance: 222 miles Price: £3,995ono. It would be madness to take that in at £5k IMHO.
dangerous brain
I'm not a trader though. I just want what my cars worth and if I can sell a PX for a certain amount then that will count to me as cash for my car. If however it won't sell for the amount I think it will then that leaves me short for my car.
Dragon
my mate use to own one, it did have 140k miles on it, but it was mint. he brought it 5 years ago for £10,000, sold it late last year for £1700. it was 1991 300ce24v in dark met grey. if you look at a national search on the net they are not fetching huge money. So be careful if you plan to p/ex to sell and to get some money back.
dangerous brain
OK that has me convinced to not bother then lol. I have been offered a stock GZ TT supe on a px which I think I'd be more comfortable with its just taking its time for the money to come through. Only problem with that car is I might be able to justify keeping it and not actually recoup any of the money lol.
