Mcgoo
Hello, couple of questions, Got my j- spec TT6 afew weeks ago now from this very site (scarfacegti). Done about 600 miles in it now and recon im getting around 12 -14mpg which when i asked the question a couple of weeks ago everyone said was too low. Thing is there dosnt seem to be any problems, car runs lovely. Also i have a bill from chris wilson from last summer stating 'full diagnostics on turbo/fuel/ignition, repair of various split hoses, ecu wiring and new filler cap. He also done a cambelt change. so would suggest things would now be ok. Any ideas??? The other thing was i was told it had a fuel cut defender but boost gauge only gets to 0.8 bar. I have still got both cats so is this normal????
Pig
Dunno about fuel but i suggest removing the cats mate. will get much higher boost
chilli
.8 sounds about right, I was getting 0.9 - 1 bar with both cats in, but I have a virtually straight, large cat back exhaust... when I took the cats off, it went up to 1.1 to 1.15 (and on cold days I started to hit fuel cut which is quite alarming). Don't forget to reset the ECU like I did though doh! It won't run properly until you have...

ellis
Fuel consumption will depend a lot on how hard you drive the car - do you give her the berries quite a lot?
Nic
If you still have both cats fitted 0.8bar is perfectly normal, the FCD doesn't make any difference to the boost reading, it just allows the boost to go over 1bar without the ECU cutting the fuel. If you want to increase the boost then you will need to get rid of one or both cats. Fuel consuption is completely dependant on the way you drive and the type of driving you're doing, ie. motorway cruising you will see 20mpg+ but urban driving with lots of turbo action and you'll be getting the sort of figures you're seeing. All of my driving in HK is urban driving and I'm usually lucky to see double figures when it comes to mpg.
