Supra-Dupra
Just fitted a Fuel Cut Defender I got from Thor ! Was advised as I ordered a Chris Wilson Decat and restrictor ring ! I fitted the Fuel Cut unit today to find I could'nt go over 45-50mph and the turbos were still kicking in, but not picking up speed ?! I did remove it again double and treble checked the wiring (was good), so just removed it and all is back to Normal ! Is this the expected effect of fitting it before fitting the Decat Pipes ? terribleturner
No, something is definatly wrong there mate. Did you get it from Thor themselves or off Ebay??
Jake
Sounds like it was connected incorrectly. Any warning lights or stored error codes?

Jake
If you're sure it was fitted correctly and there were no stored error codes (did you check for stored codes in the ECU?) I guess you will have to send the unit back to Thor for testing. I've had two faulty Thor speedo converters in the past but they exchanged them both no problems. Was defo fitted ok he has diagram connect 12v to 39, Input 62, output 69....etc (cant remember correct number/slots) Perhaps you could tell us the correct pin numbers and how you wired it up? Also check the ECU for stored codes as it hardly ever lights up the MIL for a stored code... -Ian

JohnA
As a first step I would triple-check that the ECU wires used were the correct ones. It is very easy to become disoriented while lying in the footwell looking at the loom upside down.
Chris Wilson
Ground it to chassis ground, I use the ecu mounting stud and a ring terminal. I use pin 31 for 12v positive feed. Check the settings on the rotary switches within with Thor.

Green to the engine (MAP sensor side) blue to the ECU side, when you cut the yellow and black wire.
JohnA
Ground it to chassis ground, I use the ecu mounting stud and a ring terminal.... that's what I've done too. Simpler and safer than tapping into an extra ECU wire, and it's probably better ground as well.

Or see: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=50877 and hack into none of the OE wiring, much the nicest way, especially if adding other stuff later!
