The Road Warrior
Hi, Does anyone know the difference between pre-facelift & facelift 17” stock alloys? Apart from the centre hub design? Apparently the facelift wheel has a slightly different design, can anyone tell the difference just by looking at pics? I’ve seen both wheels in photos but apart from the plastic centre hub I really can’t see any difference Is this a 96+ facelift wheel? http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/min...s/P1010791.JPG Certainly looks the same as: http://www.engine-power.com/img/spec...a_mk4tt_06.jpg Many thanks in advance

michael
LOL: My original '94s refinished: http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/wheels/wheels-01.jpg The ones I believe to be facelift: http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/wheels/trackday17s/P1010791.JPG A picture of a facelift Supra with standard wheels: http://www.engine-power.com/img/specs/toyota_supra_mk4tt_06.jpg As far as I was aware only the centres changed? Perhaps the source that told you the facelift wheel design was different can enlighten us both?
Branners
DEFO the same wheels, they simply changed the centres. JB
dangerous brain
I'd read that they were different. I think it said the holes were bigger in them or something like that???
Branners
Not heard that before, which holes? To get a set of wheels designed and manufactured cant be cheap so I would have thought they would have continued with the same design and just stuck the different centres in, but then the facelift models did have quite a few new bits on them. I put what I believed to be facelift and normal wheels side by side and could see no difference but then I have no way of knowing if the facelifts were infact facelifts.. Bobbeh
I'd read that they were different. I think it said the holes were bigger in them or something like that??? That wouldnt make sense considering the Jap market usually use narrower wheel nuts, and the facelift wasnt sold in Europe.
Daston
I think the 17" ones are the same they have wider spokes than the 16" but as far as I'm aware the facelift ones just have a different cap
Gordon F
I have seen a slightly different wheel on an SZR. There were small strenghtening webs running across the width of the rim, close to the spokes. They were quite difficult to see, but if you ran your finger across the wheel, they were easy to find.
