Guest brutus
How many coats did you need with this stuff? And where's the best place to get it from? Cheers You should be able to get it from your local Motor acc shop(Not HALFRAUDS) its in a Black AEROSOL, with 'HYCOTE' in Yellow on the front..1 tin will do the dash..2-3 coats, its concentrated,so goes on thicker than normal aerosols

Sounds like a bitch to get the dash bits off though, but we'll see how it goes. I'll post some pics when I get round to doing it (prob in a month or so! )
tepster
the dash bits come off real easy.. the hard bit is getting the damn rubber coating off!! There must be some japanese geezers with long finger nails in some parts of japan as the area around the window switch on mine is nearly bald! SuperSupra
What is this rubber coating thing people keep talking about? I don't know what it is!!! Are there certain models that don't have these things???
MaveriK
Do we think painting is better than the stick on kits then?
SuperSupra
Hell yeah, from what i've heard the stick on bits scratch easily, and don't look as good anyway (yet they cost more!). I can't wait to do mine!!!

SuperSupra
Hmmm, that does look pretty sweet actually. I thought they were all separate pieces but that looks like it's all one piece on the main section of the dash. Very nice indeedy!!!
SuperSupra
So what is this black rubber coating people speak of? I'm unsure if i need to remove anything before spraying my interior!
Aerotop Dave
Pre-facelift Supras have a black rubber coating on all dash panels. You will need to remove it before spraying. It's not like a one-piece bit of rubber that you can peel off, it needs to be scraped off bit by bit. If you want to see what it's all about, simply run your thumbnail across a bit of the dash somewhere (preferably a hidden away bit, try somewhere on the electric window switch) and watch the black stuff build up under your thumbnail. Oh right, HOWEVER, as I'm new to the world of Supra I'm not sure whether mine is a pre or post facelift model!!!!!!!! It's a 1995 J-spec, what are the differences???????????????????????? Aerotop Dave
That's pre-facelift, so you'll have the rubber coating alright. Plan for 1hr per panel to remove it and you'll be fine.
SuperSupra
Gutted! I've noticed some scratches on some panels but it doesn't feel "rubbery" so thought maybe i wouldn't have to do this but never mind!!! Cheers for the help
