Not a technical question? ok.....can people tell me what the ride difference is like, and the best tyre sizes to go with 17" or 18". Is that better? tbourner
I went from 17 to 18, but I think my tyre profile is a bit too big on the 18s! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbourner/Car%20pics/images/supe/calendar/calendar37.JPG http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tbourner/Car%20pics/images/supe/newwheels/frontcorner02.jpg Lowering also helps! max55uk
18's do tend to fill in the arches quiet well, but must say once lowered looks the nuts! I've seen a few with the Lexus GS300 sport alloys with the wider rears, look awesome.
supragold
Hmmmmm 18"s:read:
jackso11
hmmm, 18"s do fill the arches well I agree. Any advice on tyre size that still allow full lock?
tbourner
I think my fronts are 245/40 18, they're OK. The backs are 285/35 18 and rubbed the arches - but that's probably an offset issue.
Aerotop Dave
17s. Cheaper to buy, cheaper to rubber up (oo er), better ride quality.
GeordieSteve
18's
Chris Wilson
Rechnically, 17's are better, on these cars. Aesthetically I don't care, not my bag at all....
jackso11
245 and 285!! have you got wider arches? They are some wide rubbers! What does everyone else have on their 18"s
supragold
Mine are 285/30 18's and 265/35 18's on the front and no rubbing. Its all to do with what offset you have.
ardasaliah
mine are 18s and the car feels better then the stock 17s !!!!

Jake
I think my fronts are 245/40 18, they're OK. The backs are 285/35 18 and rubbed the arches - but that's probably an offset issue. Yeah or a lowering problem. I run the same rears and 255/35/18 fronts with no problem
jackso11
Ok. I kind of guess from those tyre sizes your cars are TT right? Mine is an n/a. Anybody out there want to give me a tyre size guide line for 18"s on an n/a. Bad news: I was picking my car up tomorrow....fresh import and have been waiting for DVLA to reg it. Have been told it won't be ready until tuesday
