My brother has a D2 Audi S8 which developed a misfire today with no obvious cause. Im fearing its ECU related but Ill post up what Ive done and see if anyone can provide any pointers.

Borrowed a VAGCOM and the error is misfire detected on cylinder 6, despite clearing it, returns every time.

What Ive done so far :-

Swapped the coil with a known good one - No spark present

Swapped the spark plug with a known good one - No spark present

Swapped the ignitors between the banks of cylinders, misfire still present on cylinder 6

The coils have a 3 wire plug, 1x12v 1x earth 1x signal. 12v present at the coil, continuity to earth. Traced the signal wire from the coil to the ignitor, had continuity. Traced the signal wire from the ignitor to the ECU, also had continuity so I think its safe to say the wiring is ok.

The injector is working, at least its ticking but if its blocked would that cause the ECU to kill the cylinder?

Any help would be fantastic, or if Ive missed anything obvious, that would also help :D
