CUSCO Type OS front strut bar on JZA80 Supra TT

guys, just bought the above item and plan to install it soon.

 

questions:

1. do i need to remove that black metal round ring (came with factory Supra) attached to the top of the front shock (secured by 3 nuts) before installing the CUSCO front strut bar?

2. was thinking of getting the CUSCO rear strut bar as well but was told by many it's not necessary since factory Supra already has some kinda rear strut plate in place?

I left the strut rings on, could take them off i suppose.

 

The rear of the supra pretty much has a standard strut brace.

with the strut rings on, you've no issue closing the hood cover and fully tightening the bolts? do you've any hood scoop in place, like my UK-spec?

I also left the rings on and had no issues.

 

Agreed that no rear brace is needed, its braced as stock

No issues, i have the Carbing brace, it's pretty tall already. no scoop though.

 

Try it, see what happens.

The back metal strut top rings aren't flat, which means the strutbrace won't sit flush. I don't know how much difference that will make. But the brace will do the job the rings were doing, so they might as well come off.
