Caliper refurbish

Evening all,

Currently in the middle of refurbishing rear na jspec calipers (new seals etc).

Has anyone done this?

I'd like some advice on how to get the metal ring and piston seal into place, as I can not seem to get it to go in!

Is there a knack or correct order to reassemble it all? Thanks

Patience and a delicate touch. Oh, and a very large swear box :D

Patience is the key, if you rush it you'll end up tearing at the rubber.... or getting it into a half in position where you struggle to get it out.

Piston right down in the caliper to expose the recess (it's more fiddley than the video above) with the rubber over the piston top, gentle ease one end of the metal ring into the outer crease and feel it into the recess. Then holding it there try and ease the next piece down and in bit by bit, three or four hands would be useful as the ring, as you are probably finding, likes to pop out. Thinking about it opening the ring out so its more coil spring like might help you get most of the ring in easier with the last section being more difficult.

A basically it is a faff! I will try and find the refurb thread on here where from memory someone uses a kitchen utensil to push the ring down.
