ripped_fear
Hi all, I know the whole "what part are needed to upgrade my gearbox blah blah blah" have been done to death, however the lists you find while searching are obviously a full conversion, so parts like the dash, transmission tunnel, pedals etc etc are included. Basically I'm just looking for a bit of clarification. My Car is a NA (2JZ-GE) with a W58 ( 5speed) with a open rear diff. Running completely stock currently. If I was to source a V160 what addition parts would I need, I'm basically interested in finding out if items such as the clutch res are compatible, and could I use the rear half of my prop and keep the open differential and drive shafts until a later date? I have put together a list so far of what i think i need, but please feel free to correct me, and add and delete as applicable. Any help appreciated. full v160 gearbox complete clutch and flywheel (OEM 6 speed one? would this be compatible for the NA?) clutch lines clutch master cyl (Can the 5 speed one be used?) slave cyl propshaft (Can the 5 speed one be used?) lsd diff (Can these be left for now?) driveshafts (Can these be left for now?) Anything else? Edited January 6, 2015 by ripped_fear (see edit history)

mattdavies
Check the gearbox calculator to work out the effect of leaving your diff in.
ripped_fear
Check the gearbox calculator to work out the effect of leaving your diff in. Yeah have done that and it would mean I would be going through the gear slightly quicker, but could be solved with a tt auto diff or similar. v160 1st 32.4 2nd 52.5 3rd 73.6 4th 94.5 5th 123.9 6th 156.3 W58 1st 37.7 2nd 65.4 3rd 97.2 4th 123.9 5th 158.3 N/A I'm more questioning the actual ability to fit this combo for now and whats needed. The diff would be changed however I'm looking to do it in stages. Although I know I could run the old diff would I need to change the front half of the prop etc. One thing i have found while searching is it appears the slave cylinder can be left, but will change the biting point on the clutch.
