GE block vs GTE vvti - differences ?

So I was always led to believe there was no difference between all the bottom ends between GE and GTE engines, except oil squirters, now I have done multiple searches on this forum last night, read all the old threads, thanks Chris Wilson and Gav, although I can't find the thread whereby Chris chops up a GE block ? But can a GE block be used in a stock setup for a GTE vvti ?

 

Looking at the blocks they are identical except some mounts down the outside left hand side, the vvti block has double diagonal mount points and the GE non vvti has single mount points. But does anyone know what mounts here specifically on the GTE vvti block, is the turbo housings ?

some ge blocks have extra mounts too. for the aristo and gs300 I think,

Craig, so I do I need to worry that the 2 blocks are in fact different in terms of the mount points you can see in the picture ?

So these are only for different engine mounts and the fact that these 2 blocks look different, they are both Supra engines and will be ok, right ?

yes no difference mate , in terms of everything important ant they are the same . I had 4 ge blocks here once all with slight casting differences. I believe not all 2js came from the same factory.
