Guest lewk
hi posted earlier today and mentioned that after fitting a full exhaust system including both decat pipes, i took my car for a spin to test it out. when out i gave it a little bit of stick, heard a pop and then had no boost what so ever, it was like driving an N/A supra. got back and noticed a few of the boost pipes had blown off and this was causing the problem. ive ordered a front mount intercooler and pipework to stop the pipes coming off again but im told ill need a restrictor ring? as im new to supra's im not sure what this is. could someone enlighten me on what it is and what i would need it for? said it may be overboosting. any help would be appreciated. thanks lewis
chris0132
Yeah when you remove both cats you need a restrictor ring to stop over boost which could kill your turbos I got mine off whifbitz for £
listy
A restrictor ring goes in the exhaust and restricts the gas flow, therefore restricting boost. If you do not have one fitted, and have no cats in, then you will be pushing too much boost, and will likely pop your turbos. Best way to go, is to get a 1bar restrictor ring (available from Whifbitz, who are a trader on here) and a boost controller, to further control the boost.
