Extending top seat belt bolt

Noz

Recommended Posts

My roll cage has been fitted in an area that impacts the seat belt. It now faces behind me slightly, rather than down. This makes it awkward to pull through and retain tension after being removed due to the angle its pulled towards.

Can I just create a spacer for this, to bring the bolt out around an inch? Or is this a bad idea.

I'm 100% sure I won't shear the threads just from my body weight. What do people think?

The garage that fit it for me do MOT's so just assumed it wasn't a requirement for any of those issues but it's awkward as hell for me while it's fitted. They installed it while the seats were out anyway otherwise I could of seen the issue there for myself prior to hole drilling.

Na stuff that. Wrong car for harness IMO.

I've ordered a longer high tensile bolt. I'll just cut some decent tube to extend is out an inch. Problem sorted.

Thanks for advice though Jon
