Noz Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 What's recommended for this thread on the exhaust gas temperature bung welded on the manifold? NPT tape only goes to a couple hundred degrees. Tricky-Ricky Posted June 11, 2013 Share Posted June 11, 2013 It should be a tapered thread, or at least have a compression olive, so shouldn't need any thread sealer, if your really bothered i guess you could use a small amount of exhaust sealer paste, but it may make it difficult to remove. I work with NPT's all the time at work, and never heard of just using them to seal on their own. It would 100% leak with most gas low pressure applications, so I've never considered not using anything.
