Measure Oil Pressure

Recommended Posts

•The oil sender does not have an "OUTPUT" . its a variable ground

•In an Auto setup (More pressure= less resistance, makes the gauge go up),

•More pressure= less resistance

•Less pressure= more resistance

What I can do:

•Remove the wire from the sending unit. The gauge reads full scale.

•Short the wire to ground and it reads "0".

Question

With the Gauge and Sender off the car ,

How do you trick an oil pressure sender into measuring pressure?, so I can get the variable OMH reading on the Multimeter or is the only way by putting it on the car with the Engine running?
