Ross C Posted May 7, 2012 Share Posted May 7, 2012 Hi guys. I'm stumped and need some help. My mate had his car broken into and ignition barrel was damageds and battery was drained. I have fully charged the battery and replaced the ignition barrel with another MK1 barrel and reconnected the single plug at the back. The car now starts up and runs for 5-10 seconds then cuts out. Ian C Posted May 11, 2012 Share Posted May 11, 2012 That sounds like an immobiliser issue, has it got one? Otherwise, start it and immediately try to rev it up. If it immediately stalls, the fuel delivery is very weak. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Rookie mistake on my part as the old key has to be next to the ignition when i turn the car over and then runs fine once its up and running.
