Colin-mkiv
I was messing about with the intake on my car today. I noticed how it has 2 huge baffles incorporated into it. Are these simply for noise reduction? I have hardpiped the whole intake and have fitted a cone filter with heat shield in behind the headlight and it doesnt seem to be excessively loud or anything. I incorporated the intake temp sensor and the very small air intake that goes around the front of the engine but not sure where to send the CCV outlet as I dont want to vent all this oily air/vapour into my plenum. Is this where you would fit an oil catch tank or should I just vent to air with a filter fitted? Any advice welcome and appreciated. Thanks
David P
Fit a little filter to it and vent to air.
Colin-mkiv
Cheers David....yeah...I might get a T piece and send both rocker cover vents to one small filter.

Colin-mkiv
What baffles are you referring to? There are 2 big boxes that are sort of hanging under the intake pipes but are plumbed in....they are just empty boxes. They seem to serve no real purpose at all! Colin-mkiv
Is that your engine bay David?? Cheers Swampy, that is what I suspected. Noise is our friend....esp induction roar....haha
Swampy442
Be warned though, they are fookin loud. My bro has an n/a aristo with a hard pipe and cone filter, it's proper loud, especially when the 2nd valve opens on the inlet manifold!
Colin-mkiv
I haven't been anywhere in it yet...I was waiting for the chemical metal to set on the small pipe I had to drill and fit, steel to alli so wont weld, also waiting for the small filter to turn up for the CCV on the rocker cover and I'll take it round the block. Taxing her for the summer this weekend and taking the Allroad off the road til winter time comes around again. David P, I just looked at your pics.....that WAS your engine bay...til you supercharged her. I was wanting to do that, but I underestimated the amount of graft required. I just dont think I'm going to satsisfy my need for power without turbos or some form of forced induction etc.
David P
Colin, Plenty of pics in 'my garage' and albums. A far simpler way to supercharge would be to adapt the 1G-GZE Roots 90 but I fancied using an M112 in a 'pretty' configuration. Colin-mkiv
I found the car to be far more responsive today. I also did the blowing exhaust gasket just after 1st cat....found that the 1st cat still has its honeycomb in it so will be looking for a 1st cat decat pipe....2nd cat has been brayed out so is empty anyway and can stay where it is. Next job is aircon delete with me new shorter belt.
David P
So....would a TT inlet go on and then fit a supercharger in place of the aircon pump? No but something like that. Just poke the guts out of the first cat. Do a search on 'air-com pump removal', you need to pay attention to PAS mounting or you could damage the block. David P
What cars had the 1g-gze? "1G-GZE The 1G-GZE was a supercharged version produced from 1986 till 1992. Output was 168 hp (125 kW) at 6000 rpm and 167 lb·ft (226 Nm) at 3600 rpm. Like the turbo, it was a 24-valve DOHC engine but featured a distributorless ignition system (DIS). 1G-GZE was mated only with automatic gearboxes. In August 1991.5 it was replaced with 1JZ-GE on Mark II/Chaser/Cresta, while serving on Crown until 1992. Applications: Toyota Crown GS120, GS121, GS130 1988–1990 Toyota Mark II/Chaser/Cresta GX81" This supercharger set-up can be sourced in Australia for $150. Colin-mkiv
I wonder if Jurgen would be able to get the setup in Japan, postage from Australia is ridiculous, whereas Jurgen might be willing to bring it over in an imported car, for a nominal fee of course. There are plenty to be found. Cool, thanks for that, although I suspect it was fully Wiki'd up I answered your question with a quote, that's why it was closed in inverted comma's, purpled in and bolded up, or would you prefer I had composed the answer with mine own quill?
