I'm no expert here by any means, but fitting new arms on one side and not the other *could* be asking for trouble handling wise.

You might get away with just the uppers or just the lowers, but I would have thought that it would be wise to change them all, as your current parts will all be the same age (assumption) and so wear will be pretty much similar all round. You may get one or 2 that are worse than the others, but the others are not going to have that much more life in them before they are in the same state.

Do you have to change all the arms or can you just fit new bushes?

You can't buy the bushes on their own. Well.. read on and I'll explain.

You can buy aftermarket polyurethane bushes, but to have these fitted means getting the old bushes pressed out of the arms and these pressed back in. The end result is a much tighter feel to the car *BUT* after not very long, the car starts squeaking like a mouse unless you keep applying grease to the poly bushes.

There is one other option, and that is a guy in Australia called Andrew Vlamos. He manufactures replacement rubber bushes, originally intended for the Lexus SC / Toyota Soarer, which also fit the Supra. These are great, original Toyota quality and rubber of course, but the cost is £440 for the front end (8 bushes). This is not much less than the cost of repacement front arms at the prices Nic is quoting, and it means you wouldn't be getting the benefit of brand-new balljoints as well.

That's about it really. Apart from TRD bushes, which are very much the same story as the Vlamos (VFT) bushes. I don't know what their price is but I would assume they are even more than the Vlamos ones.

New arms has got to be the way forward.

Sounds like you've done a lot of research Carl and have some very good info there. TRD still make the front bushes (the rears are no longer available) I had these fitted on the front of mine and I am very happy with the results, as the handling feels very 'tight' and precise.

I will look into the cost of the bushes and see if I can negotiate a good deal with my supplier, as these would work out quite a lot cheaper on postage.

That is true. If the TRD front-end bushes are noticably cheaper than the Vlamos ones, then it might be worth doing the front that way and having them pressed in.
