Ben-san
It's high time I get the supe in for a service, and I've been looking around for bits. I'm going to have fully synthetic Sylkolene ProS 10-50W (is that right?) put in - as so many of you have recommended using it. So here's the question: There are some TRD oil filters up in Ebay for £20 plus a fiver for postage. Can anyone vouch for these, and should I bother, as I'm not up to BPU (yet ). Your advice will be much appreciated! B®
Steve
Stay with the Toyota filter. £12 i think.
b_have
I use the TRD filters, but only coz I bought a few when I visited TRD in Tokyo last year. They were 2300Y (about £12). Don't think they are anything special, probably just re-badged. Lexus filters are good, try a search.

Alex
I've got a SARD filter fitted from Vortex. FYI, there are 2 types of TRD filter, you DO NOT want the US spec one. The stock one is very good and only about £9 from Toyota. There is a version that ends 03 which is stock and then the same part no. with 04 is the Lexus 4L V8 part which also fits but is a wee bit bigger. Maxx
I've just done an oil change and fitted a Lexus V8 Filter - 90915-20004 (£9.72+vat) from my local Toyota Ddealer, supposedly a slightly better filter than the stock Supra one. I'm running a UK TT but it fits J-Spec too as far as I know.

Terminator
I've just done an oil change and fitted a Lexus V8 Filter - 90915-20004 (£9.72+vat) from my local Toyota Ddealer, supposedly a slightly better filter than the stock Supra one. I'm running a UK TT but it fits J-Spec too as far as I know. I have pulled both of these apart and found no diference in filter material, just a bigger volume filter. As said before the US filter is the one to avoid, iy has much worse filtration than these two.
Markie
Hi guys.. Just a very quick question.. Doing an oil change and I asked about the Lexus V8 filter. He said it would fit and gave me the part number of 90915 TB001. Just a bit concerned, as this part number differs slightly from the one mentioned in the above posts? Will it be OK? Paid £9.38 inc VAT for the filter and gasket washer. I was shocked how cheap this was...
Maxx
Hi Markie just spoken to Toyota and they believe the 90915-TB001 number is a superceding of the original Supra filter 90915-20003 and not the Lexus V8 one, which is still listed only as 90915-20004. Hope that's not too confusing
Markie
Hmm.. That is confusing So which one should I get do you think? Should I phone them back and quote the part number 90915-20004 and get the proper lexus one? Odd that the guy said it was for the Lexus V8 engine.. *ponder*
Markie
Spoke to Toyota again. The damn guy gave me the part number for the V6 Lexus/Supra. (Part No: 90915-TB001) So, guys.. Do I get the Supra/Lexus V6 or the Lexus V8 one?? Which as mentioned (Part No: 90915-20004) Want to get the one which will perform a bit better, ie volume filtering etc.
Guest Terry S
Get the LS400 V8 one
Maxx
As Terminator mentioned earlier the materials are the same in both the Supra and Lexus filters but I believe I'm right in saying the Lexus filter is slightly larger so it's really up to you. Markie
Just to clarify. Lexus V8 one is - 90915-20004 Superceeding Supra filter is - 90915-TB001 (Must be a newer one) *shrug*
Maxx
Thats what I've been told by the Toyota guys over my way, they're normally pretty good too, if you want to confirm the Supra filter the original number is 90915-20003 and has been changed to 90915-TB001 the Lexus V8 is as you've got it above.
