not 100% sure, might do it myself yet, it depends how long it takes to get it finished. i really just want to get back in the thing and drive it now [shrug]. i probably won't be able to resist blowing it up myself :)

cw has a couple of good mappers or rod bell, they were my basic list of options.

with a little help from MONKEYmotorsports lol :thanks:

glad its all coming together lad. you will have to take me out for a blast see how it goes. might get my ass in gear lol. you taken lots of stuff off engine too. loads more room to work with now.

you must have a list as long as your arm all the bits you taken off. will be great to see how it goes at strip when you got it set up. i will bring my 286 laptop round and we can program it to an inch of its life

good luck

  • 1 month later...

i've been out mapping this the last few days and it is fecking ridiculous. i'm nowhere near full boooooooost or full throttle yet but it's scarey. the mid range is just phenomenal, transient response is awsome.

it is so good to be out in the supra again. atmospheric dumped wastegates are the work of the devil! ;)

Good job dude but........

not sure about the carboard induction heat shield :scare: :run:

it took me ages to make that ali look like cardboard :)

How are you mapping it mate?

fc datalogit with wideband o2, fuel pressure and oil temp as auxilaries, on the road. probably do the final ignition mapping on a dyno.

  • 2 weeks later...

a few more pics.

all the intake stuff is painted with a heat resistant and reflective paint.

the downpipe was releasing a massive amount of heat into the bay so that has now been mummy wrapped, it's amazing, you can now touch it after a hard run. im just finishing the front ducting, so i'll add those pics tonight.

i'm also working on a manifold heat shield and turbine housing shield, but i may just opt for a turbo blanket instead.

Guest Terry S
Whats all this about Terry, does this just apply to ball bearing turbos as i upped the size of the oil feed pipe and fitting on my "ordinary" turbo as the elbow supplied with the turbo was tiny

Paul just a DBB thing mate. Be very careful upping the size of your oil feed. Dependant on turbo it can cause trouble.

thanks for that Terry, i did'nt go mad just the next dash- size up as the fittings supplied were only 1/8" internal dia which looked tiny, well you learn something every day

The turbos only need a bit of oil for lubrication, they have tiny bearings, look at the oil feed size to a crank main bearing, they are only about 1/8 inch bore. The turbo needs a good deal of flow at low pressure, to remove heat. No need for big pressure pipes, but the drain needs to be TOTALLY unrestrictive, hence the BIG drain size.
