His sister is coming to view the car tonight and if she thinks he will like it, she will pay for it there and then in cash. My query is as follows. On the V5/logbook which part am I required to fill in? I assume I (as the seller) would sign the part of the logbook that says the car is being permanently exported, and then send this slip off to the DVLA? Do I then give the rest of the logbook to the new owner? Does anybody have any experience about selling car privately abroad, and how to deal with DVLA paperwork? They need the main V5 part. Hi Shane, thanks for the info. So I just send of the export slip off to the DVLA and leave the rest of the V5 in the glove box, sound about right? You just fill in the slip and send it off, the DVLA will send you a letter of confirmation eventually (I got mine today from 3 weeks ago) Once you have the money it's up to the new owner what he does with the V5.... I don't understand how a forum can give you a better/faster answer than DVLA themselves... Since when? I only called them twice in my life and they've been very helpful both times.
