pedrosixfour
Hey folks. Doing a few bits with the old girl to ensure I stay ahead of the pesky Honda brigade around Mondello. Here are a few snaps of my new 4.27 diff ratio, it won't guarantee success but it should allow me to get the most performance from the first 4 gears of my 5 speed box. Pretty happy with the end result, no re-shimming was required, in my humble opinion. I had the shims removed & sent over with the new ratio from America and as they were identical to what was in my own diff I left it as it was. Pretty happy with the contact pattern, this is my first diff rebuild so it was a bit hit and hope. From the guides I've read I was expecting less of a contact area but I can't see any disadvantage to the result I have here.
pedrosixfour
Eh, wasn't expecting the pics to be quite that big but actually thats the best look I've had at my work all day! The last shot shows the contact that will occur when the car is travelling forward.
Chris Wilson
The reason it's showing so much contact area is you have daubed FAR too much Engineers Blue on the teeth
pedrosixfour
The reason it's showing so much contact area is you have daubed FAR too much Engineers Blue on the teeth Yes yes Chris, I see that now. You actually get a better idea of the contact area from the teeth I didn't put the Blue on! So what do you think, do I get a pass??

pedrosixfour
Deadly!! Next job is fitting your line of Bilsteins that I bought from Cheifgroover. Do you keep a record of the units you build, ie spring rates and such?

pedrosixfour
Oh there is no problem at the moment Chris. I just wanted to know for future reference, in case the fast road set-up proved a little soft for me or Mondello. But I seriously doubt it. I'm delighted I got my hands on them, I've been so close to buying the usual suspects for the past year but I kept telling myself to hold off til something good came along. Result!
