fitting cams

hey all,

 

im fitting 264 cams and changing the timing belt at the same time.

should i also be replacing other things eg cam oil seals, water pump,idlers, pulleys etc???

DI'D definatly changecthe cam seals. You will have the tensioners off so if money permits I'd change them too.

Only a few extra bolts to get the water pump off so like I said as above really.

mate not sure think you need big power ie single before you really benefit from cams, when i changed the belts i used hks pulleys and a hks timing belt, gates aux belt cause toyota list 2 belts for the supra. think the water pump should be ok unless maybe high mileage.

You feel an increase in mid to high end power running longer duration/higher lift cams with stock turbos. Even more with ECU mapped to suit.

I'd suggest a crank pulley, or at least a dam good inspection

cheers all, might as well change the obvious like cams seals and waterpump anyway..just askin in case there is something that gives trouble which i could prevent now.

I'm not as familiar with UK spec Supras. However only the intake cam is slightly longer duration on the UK spec, the exhaust cams are the same as the J-spec, so it should make a noticeable difference. In256/ex264 cams are a popular set up at BPU levels.
