taken from the FAQ section...

 

What it should be like:

 

You get 0.7bar of boost on turbo 1, a slight dip in power between 3500 and 4000rpm, and then 0.8bar of boost with both turbos online. This should be a smooth and linear power delivery.

 

When modified with a boost controller/decat, you'll see an increase in boost after 4000rpm when the second turbo comes online. You may also get 0.8bar of boost on the first turbo with a decat. You'll feel the same power dip at 3500rpm but then a noticeable surge in power at 4000rpm when the second turbo comes online and hits over 1 bar of boost. Full boost is acheived before 4500rpm.

Is it normal operation of the sequential system to see a small drop in boost after kickdown during WOT whilst the change from 1st turbo to both is made? (approx 0.1-0.2 bar)

Yes perfectly normal to see slight drop in pressure, during transition from 1st to both turbos. If you look at a dyno map of a stock Supra you will also see slight loss of power at the transisition.

 

I have mine set up in parallel which I much prefer as the power delivery is much smoother and feels more powerful through the rev range.

you're talking about the TTC right.

 

I asked this earlier by no one replied...

 

surely if both turbos kick in together at 4,000 in seq mode theres no gain in performance by having it in TTC as it does the same thing ?

 

please unlease your vast knowledge as i'm willing to learn...

By going TTC you wont get any additional performance increase. Since the turbos are operating in parallel there will be more lag but it is said to be safer for the turbos in the long run. Like Nic said you will get a smoother power delivery without the dip between 3500 and 4000 rpm.

You get slight lag to start with, but I think you gain mid range. it did feel a bit odd at first changing to TTC but once I got use to it I loved it. I was advised to change mine to TTC by my tuners, when they fitted the e-manage, as they said that the e-manage could map the TTC setup easier and be able to make more power.

 

TBH I always found the sequential setup when the 2nd turbo came on line a bit out of my control and it had a tendancy of catching me out when accelarating out of a corner ie. if you weren't careful you could suddenly get a bit surge in power when you weren't expecting it.

 

I've attached my dyno graph and another I found (hope you don't mind me using as an example) that shows the difference with the sequential power. delivery

I seem to spend most of my life in traffic here :complain: You get use to driving around the powerband, I have a manual though so it is easy to just drop it down a gear when I need to. I've had mine like this for 5 years now so it feels normal to me, I'm sure the sequential set up would feel very strange to me now.

i might have to give it ago and try it for myself.

 

The electronic TTC looks simple enough to install....i think.

The stock ECU is mapped for the sequential set up, so I'm not sure how it will behave if set to TTC, you may find you are running rich low down then lean at the normal transition point between the 2 turbos.

 

The e-manage on mine is specifically mapped for the TTC setup.
