jonathanc
Just bought a new Sharp LED telly and I am really liking it especially the power saving mode! However, the sound is a bit of a let down. I am thinking of getting a 2.1 Home Cinema kit but I am totally clueless when it comes to things like this. Basically I would love to get one with iPod dock and perhaps support media streaming but that's not an absolute requirement. Not too fussed about Blu Ray since I have PS3 for that I am wondering if anyone could give some recommendations? oh my budget is around 300-ish quid. Cheers! CJ
I would suggest a quick look on AVforums.com. There are some incredibly knowledgeable folks there that could advise.
Thorin
I'm interested in a 2.1 setup too (or even 3.1, left/right/centre/sub), let me know if you decide on something. Our room layout means we can't really have rear speakers in an anywhere near suitable position, but I'd like a nice simple plug in system for better sound and bass
Thorin
A quick browse over on avforums suggested this... Onkyo HTX-22HD http://www.eu.onkyo.com/products/HTX-22HD.html £220 apparently, and extra speakers can be added to make it full 5.1 at a later date. Mind you, most there are really into it and tend to recommend the high end of the market.
Davey001
Only one on for me!! Bought it a couple of years agao best ive ever owned!! Bose cinemate! Roughly £500 but well worth every penny!!
Davey001
Oh and forgot to say this system is designed to be used in both large and small rooms as it throws the sound around the room as there are only 2 speakers at the front and a sub!!! I have that Onkyo with the rear and centre speakers added. It rocks! I think they are getting hard to get hold of as Onkyo are replacing it with a model that isn't quite as good spec. The true HD audio from a blu ray film is awesome:cool:

The Onkyo will do that for you too with just the 2 fronts and the sub.

jonathanc
Guys, I've found a SAMSUNG HTBD7200R. The spec list looks pretty wicked! It even has wifi to stream music and an ipod dock! What you guys think? Looks pretty sexy too. edit: Looking for 2.1 at the moment due to space contraints and don't fancy having wires running around the room with 3 kids http://www.electricshop.com/content/ebiz/electricshop/invt/htbd7200r/HTBD7200R_l.jpg * 2.1 channel * 400W Power Output * Half Tallboy speakers * High Definition Blu-ray Disc * HDMI (Anynet+) * iPod Cradle included * Stylish, Platinum Black Design * Blu-ray Video * DVD-Video / DVD±R / DVD±RW * CD DA / CD-R / CD-RW * AVCHD * DIVX (including XVID) * MP3 * JPEG * Video Up-Scale 1080P * Audio Feature Smart Volume * Audio Up-scale * Power Bass * Virtual Surround * Dolby Digital * Dolby Digital Plus * Dolby True HD * DTS * DTS-HD * Bluetooth * Anynet + (HDMI-CEC) * USB HOST * Made for iPod * Works with iPhone * iPod Dock Cradle Included * HDMI Out * Composite Output * Component Output * Audio Input * Optical Input * Headphone Jack * Tuner FM * RDS * Crystal Amplifier * Energy Star * BD Wise * BD Profile 2.0 * WLAN Ready * PC Streaming * ETC * Half Tall speaker type * Unit Material Kelp * Sub woofer Dimension: 256 x 256 x 298mm (H x W x D) * Front speaker Dimensions: 627 x 185 x 185mm (H x W x D) * Gross Dimensions: 371 x 928 x 328mm (H x W x D) http://www.electricshop.com/Home-Cinema-Systems/Samsung-HTBD7200R-21-Channel-Blu-Ray-Home-Cinema-System-in-Platinum-Black/invt/htbd7200r?source=base&lot=base&utm_source=base&utm_medium=base
