handbrake light always coming on

hey guys.

 

if i go over the slightest bump my handbrake light comes on

 

if i nudge it with my fist it goes out, such a tedious issue after a while. any ideas?? is something loose??

The red triangle? That is the general warning light for any problems detected by the ECU.

 

First thing I'd check would be brake fluid level.

Nics answer is the most common cause.

 

If you say it goes out when nudged it could well just be the sensor on the handbrake lever. It's easy to access - remove the centre glovebox and you can see the switch and connector. It's only held in with a small screw and they can come loose (though only ever seen it twice)

Mine does this to, its nearly always on. Cheers for that Darryl, i'll check under the centre glovebox
