Rust inside intercooler pipes

bamboo rocket

Recommended Posts

Firstly I am newbie when it comes to engine work – but I decided to try myself to change the silicone hoses on my intercooler and paint the pipes.

I have now disassemble all the pipes – and all the pipes looks like in the first picture (a bit oily inside) – but inside one pipe it looked like it is rusty

(the pipe was mounted right after the intercooler on the passenger side - see pic)

Should I be worried – and how shall I clean it – make it good again?

It is a ARC intercooler with original pips.

just rinse it with some rust converter then clean up with wire wool so no loose bits will fly into your engine and spray the inside of the pipe with some fish oil or similiar rust inhibitor that will prevent it happening again.

Or Cotton buds dipped in brasso
