R2D2 fitted right?

Any technical people out there know if this is fitted correctly?

Its a SARD r2d2 BOV.

Its connected to a large pipe and the little red one is looped round and stuck onto a small pipe.

The other end has been blocked off by a silver bung (see yellow arrow in photo)

It seems to work ok,but red triangle light on dash keeps coming on since its been fitted and easing off the accelerator at low speeds causes a strange vibrating noise.

Any advice appreciated.. i know very little in engine land!

:)

I have a R2D2 too mate, works really well, yours looks plumbed in fine to me, as long as the pipe with the arrow is blocked off corectly. Don't know why your getting the light mate, Try adjusting to screw on the top of the BOV maybe?!

is it leaking and letting in unmetered air hence the warning light?

Thats a possibility.. what would leak tho??

the valve itself or the hoses its connected to?

kopite.. u crack me up!! winning the footy and a star wars trailer seems to have been to much :respekt:

  • 2 weeks later...

Gonna put this thread to bed..

i stripped the bov out and cleaned it all... red triangle still appeared.

Thought maybe it was unmetered air so checked every hose...

red triangle still there.

wanna know what it was??

so simple.. has really annoyed me. Brake fluid. Even though the reservoir looks full and when i took the lid off it was only 2cm from the top apparently the tank is split into 2 inside. When i put more fluid in it went in ok (looked like it should overflow as there looked to be lots in there)

It took about a coke cans worth on top and now.. finally the lights are staying out.

unbelievable....... its like those cheapy lighters u can buy, u know when the liquid is in one half and the lighter wont light (they are usually orange in colour and 10 for a quid)

Well i learned something from the experience. double check ya fluids

One of the oldest tricks in the book mate ;)

"but my brake fluid *is* full!"

"top it up anyway, we promise the flickering red light will go away"

In fact I've just added a tech FAQ for this as I'm sure you searched that section beforehand and came up empty handed ;)
