NA Driveshafts

Hey chaps,

Searched the forum but cant find the answer im looking for.

Im converting my NA Auto to 5 Speed W58 Manual with standard W58 diff.

Will i need to change the driveshafts too or will the auto shafts fit the manual diff?

Looking under the car they both appear to be the same size/shape casing.

Cheers

I'd be very very very very very surprised if the auto and manual diffs have the same final drive.

Regardless im fitting a W58 LSD so the diff is changing, im just worried that the shafts will be different like when you go from a turbo auto to a turbo 6 speed diff.

The final drive ratio is 100% the same on the NA diff's mate. Only exception is the NA 6spd.

The driveshaft will be a problem if you're using an early 6spd diff (large casing). One of the driveshafts is shorter then the one from the smaller casing diff

Thats nuts! Auto diffs are usually really low final as there is only 4 gears....crazy! Oh well thanks for that guys. Looks like i dont need to worry about the driveshafts after all.

On a side note how to you test a diff to make sure its LSD?

I bought a standard toyota n/a 5 speed LSD off Chazuk, i have no reason to believe it isnt an LSD. But when i bought it off him we were moving the gears and it moved one wheel the opposite way to the other just like a normal open diff.

Any particular way im supposed to move them to show its an LSD?
