womble
Sorry I forgot to ask at first but what glue do you use to put them back together ?
Adam Kindness
just heat up again.... the glue softens place two parts together.... push..... heat more if needed... push etc etc then the sealent hardens! you can always run a bead of silicone round the edge just to ensure its air tight when cold tho

AJI
Do many people connect the brake lights with the fog lights so that when brake lights come on you get the fogs coming on at the same time? In effect giving you four brake lights and the high visibility one under the spoiler. It would realy tell people behind you that you were braking (not that current setup doesn't already). Yep, did that with my UK spec - i really wanted twin brakes ala JSpec, but didn't want to pay 100's a year for the privelege. Wired them up with a couple of relays - allows the fogs to still override when switched on. Dean.
womble
The hi-level rear light (below spoiler) has never lit up on mine in 5yrs of ownership yet has passed 5 M.O.Ts with no query on it. Going by Darbys comments I take it it's supposed to, hmmm. Can any one shine any (prefarebly hi-level) light on the spec of this on a U.K TT ?. DArby
Unfortunately on 93/94 UK cars we got the light cover but no guts !! I opened mine up and fitted a strip of LEDs into it - now works like everyone elses Dean.
womble
Ah I see, where do you get the L.E.Ds from please ?
DArby
Halfords or Motorist centre both do aftermarket led brake lights to mount on your back parcel shelf. Just pull one apart - they're wired and ready to go Dean.
C4 SUP
Adam, I have been looking at the job you have done on the rear lights and it is exactly what I am looking to do. You say that the procedure to seperate the parts is the same as the front lights ie heat treatment, but where can I find this information? I assume you used aerosol can for the job? All info. would be greatfully received. Ta Ian
Adam Kindness
theres a guide on this site somewhere..... remove lights from car, remove all metal bits n bobs off em... stick em in the oven for 5mins or so at 160 deg, take out, prize apart, repeat till you have them seperated.... refitting is just a reverse of that, heat up glue and stick em back together

Supra_Al
Just wondering...........how much does it cost for the facelift rear light units? Al.
C4 SUP
Adam, I have had a go at the oven thing, but gave up before I had melt down!! Are you sure it only takes 5 minutes because I still could not get the bloody thing apart. Ian
toyotasuprauk
Supra_Al not sure how much the face lights rear lights are in the UK but they are £90 for the two in America. Just to give a rough idea.
albundy68
C4 the lights take alot longer than 5 minutes in the oven, the trick is to keep the temp low and take them out every 5 minutes to work the cover a little looser every time, the glue they use on em is like cement but it gives eventually!!!
