Guest okley_78 Posted May 13, 2009 Share Posted May 13, 2009 im have bot a úsed Greddy t78 that has one bin200mil and now when im start up the turbine dont spinn on idling but so fast im give it som gas it spinns up ???what is that the impeller feels just normal no silets of som thing it feels good .. What is the classic for judge a bad turbo? im thinks its even trow out some oil i bearings but it can was befor im start up im filled the turbo whit oil and im probably spild some oil on it but it feels that its never end smoking round the turbo???weard it only has ben trouble whit my conv Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Homer Posted May 13, 2009 Share Posted May 13, 2009 All turbo's I've seen spin pretty darn quick when the car is idling, maybe because it's big old tractor technology it's just to darn large to get any movement on idle? Alex Posted May 14, 2009 Share Posted May 14, 2009 With the engine off, spin it with your finger, it should move relatively easily although not frictionlessly. If it doesn't chances are it's in need of a rebuild. The other thing to do is get someone to step on the accelerator and rev the engine whilst you watch the compressor. TLicense Posted May 14, 2009 Share Posted May 14, 2009 As has been said, get the engine up to temperature then whilst watching the compressor blades give the engine a blip. It should start spinning at some point. Watch it as it slows down, it should slow quite smoothly. If it suddenly just stops then it will need a rebuild.
