Sequential or TTC?

Ryan's going to map my BPU VVTi with the Solaris in TTC mode. Be interesting to see what he can give with that setup.

I'm going with the same once i have the money. A switch to change between TTC and sequential along with maps was mentioned too ;)

I'm just going to have TTC - as I'm in two minds whether to go single or not. I have the kit but my MR2 will be my mental barge. and I think 420-440bhp might be enough for me, for a play car!

I find 425bhp a little ambitious for std turbos in TTC, even with hybrids i don't think i was getting any more than that, but then Ryan is pretty good at his craft,

But i do know that you don't have to suffer the slow(ish) spool up and initial slow off boost performance that many seem to complain of with TTC,

With a piggyback ECU you can increase the timing advance in the lower RPM and load sites by quite a bit as the std map is quite retarded due to the early sequential spool up, and with a few tweaks to the fuelling makes for quite a different beast;)

mine was making 1BAR by 3,200 RPM, a friend says that it was initially a fair bit quicker than my GT4088 single.

... out of interest... does the boost feel alot harder when running TTC?

My answer to that is a definite yes!

Its a matter of perception, some think its slow or not nice, but i am inclined to think that they have problems with there turbos or boost control.

IMO the sequential system feels initially quite urgent, however

for me it was a case of is that all! and even when the second turbo joins in it was still a case of i waited until 4,000RPM for that.

TTC is like using a small single, you are basically getting boost from two small turbos at once, so of course its going to feel a lot harder.

Is there any implications to the extra stress on the 1st turbo? Surley it isnt meant to be boosting for that long? :search:

Yes much less stress to both, in sequential the first turbo is boosting by 1800RPM and staying that way,it never stops when the second comes in, and the second is pre spooled by 3-3,500 RPM.

In TTC both are spooling together at about 2,800 to 3,200.
