Stevo
Ok - don't laugh as I'm not very mechanically minded. The more searching I do on both here and google, the more I'm getting confused about what belts there are and what they do. Some appear to be the same but called by a different name. Can someone please clarify? Fan belt - same as auxiliary belt? Auxiliary belt Cam belt Timing belt Drive belt I'm getting the squealing as I pull away (most often uphill or first thing in the morning) and want to start trying to diagnose the problem. Have been searching on here and will 'try' to suss out the condition of the crank pulley and tensioner too.

Fan belt/aux belt/ drive belt - all the same (the one that winds its way around all the pulleys at the front of your engine). Cam/timing belt - both the same thing (you cant see it normally, if you can see it you have a problem, and I wouldn't even go looking for it let alone try to fix it if you cant tell the difference!!!) Crank pulley is the one at the front of your engine (behind the rad) right at the bottom. Do a search, loads on here about the dreaded 'death whine'!!! ShamelessTT
in my understanding fan belt = auxilary belt timing belt = cam belt drive belt, is just a term for linking things together???
