Aeromotive problem

Toms Supra

Recommended Posts

Fitted my aeromotive at long last, however, the car runs like crap! wont tick over properly and it stinks! I think its running mega rich but when we connected up the fuel pressure gauge it wouldnt work static (engine off), only with the engine running? We disconnected the vacuum etc. We set it to 37 psi (engine running) like the instructions said and I have read it on the board this is right? I think it must be the gauge but we dont know why it doesnt measure with the engine off? Has anyone else has problems setting theirs up? any help would be great!!! :tumble: :violin:

The fuel pump doesn't run on the Supra unless the engine is running or cranking. The best way of setting the pressure is to turn the ignition on, and connect a wire up between the +12V and FP terminals of the diagnostic port on the intake side of the engine. That will run the fuel pump, then you can adjust the pressure with the vac hose off to 40psi. The terminals to use are marked on the inside of the cover of the diagnostic plug.

One aeromotive, and two pipe joiners and bracket for fuel rail..

Checked it again today following Simon B`s way and it was reading 100 psi??!! turned it down to 40psi but it still runs like crap!! pops and runs really badly, here are some pics, I cant see why its doing it, If someone near who lives near me can help? (simon ;) ) then I wil have to take it off. I cant understand it seeing as so many people have them?! Sory some pics are fuzzy I vcan never work my camera properly!

Ummm, let's see, better check the obvious stuff I suppose. You reconnected the vac hose after setting the pressure right? That's pretty much all there is to it, fuel feed from the rail goes to the side port and the return line goes in the bottom. Can't think of much else.

Did you connect the gauge to the port on the regulator itself?

no the guage is too big and uses the outlet on the aero, not the little one on the side. Heres a pic of gauge kit I used. The scary thing is the way the car runs, and No.1 turbo comes on and off boost whilst driving along and I keep my foot still on the throttle its really weird!! It smells mega rich and idle is lumpy as fook sounds like a V8.

Not sure if you will get a correct reading from anywhere other than the port on the regulator or not. I would get hold of a small screw in gauge (Vortex sell them) and try that. Oh, and check for kinks in the fuel hose.
