when we talk about totb and all cars being road legal how come the skylines get away with removing a front light and fitting a duct?is that road legal??only if they have a daylight onlt mot.!!

imo the rules shouls state pump gas, road tyres(no track day types)full interior and no tuners cars!!!!!

I was all for running in Tesco's trim but this year I might get some sticky tyres  sacrilege I know :D Hilarious that the skyline boys are whinging though, seeing as they did indeed mutate the ethos behind totb1 in the first place :donkey: But as long as us normal punters can still play that's fine by me, and anyone in-the-know will respect a Rocket Ronnie car a lot more than a stripped out imported trailer queen that does in fact live it's live a quarter mile at a time.

Happily, I have no big plans, my misfire is sorted, and wierd overfuelling was pretty much mapped out (bar any more impulsive tweakage) this weekend (hee hee hee what fun I had, 3rd gear in the dry with new tyres spun up at 1.1bar boost, then the Road Angel fell off the windscreen into my lap, suckermount and all  )

So this means, barring my usual luck, a fully fettled car very early on, set up and mapped and sorted with weeks left before the event for me to actually practice launching the damn thing

I won't be too competitive though as I don't fancy running race fuel and 2bar boost on a stock engine. I know it can and has been done OK but this year I'm just sorta enjoying the car thanks :) I'll put up with a measly 600ish bhp lol

Oh yeah, and I'll be talking to you later, MonkeyMark, keeper of drag times, as I'm sorta organising TotB4 for the Supra bods. Lucky me...

Apaprently this year there is better toilets :) Grandstands, more marshalls, generally bigger and better, and they are limiting the handling circuit to a max of 5 runs per car to stop the EVOs whoring it all day ;)

3rd July is the closing date for entry lists, and we have ten places set aside.

I think it's fair that entry priority goes to cars up, running, bedded in, mapped, and proven well before the event. Should be a good day, as ever

Couldnt agree more Chis, I really am more interested in how my car goes in Tesco trim than on insane boost and exotic fuel. I hope that the likes of you actually gain more respect for building the car yourself and putting in a performance you can turn in day in day out.

Dude always puts on a good show, and hopefully Leon's car will realise it's potential soon.

I havent read the skyline thread, but just waiting for the inevitable wave of imported drag cars by garages trying to palm it off as their own work.

Hi Terry

Just so everyone knows my car come in from Japan a few years ago

I raced it the way it was for a year, then the engine went bang at the jap show at the pod.

I was fed up with everyone saying IT IS SO EASY TO IMPORT A DRAG CAR.

so me and R.B Motorsport decided there and then to strip the car and start again

with us only using the body shell, wiring, lights, brake + fuel lines

everything else was sold off and replaced with new cost me a few ££££££££

So now my car is 100% a UK built car all work either done by myself or by the guy's at R.B Motorsport.

Yes it is striped and runs on very expensive race fuel, but we built the car to do more that just TOTB once a year.

the car is legal to drive on the road and under the rules it can run at TOTB

if they change the rules I will not run there,it is that simple

Thanks Keith

If my memory serves me correctly, the only imported Skyline drag car that has competed at TOTB has been Keiths ... which (as he's already explained) has been subsequently ripped apart and completely rebuilt. Abbey's drag car only ever competed at one show at Santa Pod - and they'd completely rebuilt that too (i saw it in the various stages).

EVERY Skyline that competed last year was built in the UK - by the owners or by the Skyline specialists / garages.

The winner of all 3 so far (Rocket Ron) also had NO lighweight components on his car last year, had a full interior and even had the spare wheel in the boot (hardly a stripped out drag car).

I noticed the comment on headlight ducts ... a mod which takes a matter of minutes to fit. I've noticed Supra's running these kinds of things as well ... as well as light weight components and stripped interiors.

In my opinion, there are some sour grapes in this thread. The Skylines have been pretty dominent so far and people don't like it. Everyone knows the rules, everyone has the same opportunities and it is there for any person and team to win.

I have been VERY impressed with the way the Supra's that turn up to these events have been improving ... the times have been better and better and the competition appears to get closer every year (except that no-one other than the MLR guys seem to get a go on the Handling circuit ! ;) ). I'd rather see you guys concentrating on yourselves rather than taking side-swipes at the other competitors.

The bulk of the Skylines that are competing are the owners every day cars ... they are used for track days (a number of which have just been to Spa for a few days) and they are used for a trip to Tesco.

It should be an interesting event again (although I don't think I can make it along this year :thumbdown ).

Keith I know you have done a lot of work to yours, I speak with Mark Shead. Much respect.

Hi Terry

Sorry for the rant :complain:

I just get a little bit angry when I hear people at events saying.

He just imported a drag car in from Japan anyone with money could do that

this may be true, but you still have to be able to drive the thing.

when you walk about at events you hear people saying cant be that hard to drive

they are only going in a straight line.

Just to let everyone know when i run my car I have to put it into 2wd,switch on the line lock,

do a burnout, switch off the line lock, pump up the torque to the right pressure to

lock it in 4wd,then the hard bit get the thing off the line at 9000 revs with out

the car bogging then change 5 gears in less than 8 seconds

does not sound that easy now does it :D :D :D
