garethr
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/7858458.stm Singer-songwriter John Martyn has died at the age of 60. The folk, blues and funk artist was widely regarded as one of the most soulful and innovative singer-songwriters of his generation. He was born in Surrey but grew up in Glasgow. He was appointed an OBE in the New Year Honours. A statement on his website (http://www.johnmartyn.com) on Thursday said: "With heavy heart and an unbearable sense of loss we must announce that John died this morning." Defiintely a one off, and it's something of a miracle he made it to 60, if even half the stories are true.

garethr
Just noticed this as well -- Mickey Gee. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7843796.stm He may not be known to many of you, but he was a fabulous guitar player who was in The Squires, Tom Jones's original backing group, and had played with a long list of rock's famous names, including Bill Wyman, Dave Edmunds, Carl Perkins, Joe Cocker and many more. Branners
thats a shame. I have seen him in concert 3 times, even rushed all the way back from Italy to Stafford via trains and ferries to see him in my teens. I had hoped to see him in concert again some time so its a sad day.
