Dozymare
I just rang BT customer services - the numbers on the back of your bill. Whilst you're at it you probably want to get on the TPS and make sure you clearly state that you don't give consent to sales calls from BT either - they exempt themselves automatically unless you expressly ask. Try and call during the day when you're more likely to get someone on the same continent - makes the whole process much easier¬

jamesmark
One of the guys I worked with went ex Directory and also done the TPS thing. He still got sales calls. The only time it stopped was when he had enough and changed his number and was kept on ex directory (he also had another reason to change his number though). My Dad had no end of bother with TPS at the beginning, it now works and recieves no sales calls.
hiten55
theres also the pps (postal preference services) to stop junk mail. it takes a while but it cut down junk mail by at least 90-95% at my parents house. the tps takes some time to filter through but eventually they should all but dissapear... Tom S
There is still the issue with random number generating systems which may call you!!
ivan
There is still the issue with random number generating systems which may call you!! The latest get-around are the companies that call you and say that they spoke to you (or someone at your address) about 6 months ago and are just calling back. Those barst's get even more of a mouthful from me than the normal cold callers because they're deliberately trying to circumvent the TPS rules. bigcol
Just spoke to my phone provider about this, basically if you put your phone number to anything, car insurance, loans, credit card etc then your fooked because they can (and often do)"sell" your details on en-mass to all their associate companies etc etc Beware of one company who say they can get every sales call stopped etc "because under government law they can be fined £5000 for contacting you", cos they are another scam that costs you £35 for their service.
