Ewen
Thought I'd try a mystery object thread. Please post up pictures of things or bits of things, and we guess what they are. May get a page out of it, may die an immediate death. I'm kicking off with something I own made in 1895, but are still in use today albeit of a more advanced design. What is it ? Pixelfill
Care to elaborate for the benefit of other avid readers ? A modern form of pomander is made by studding an orange or other fruit with whole dried cloves and letting it cure dry, after which it may last indefinitely. The modern pomander serves the functions of perfuming and freshening the air and of keeping drawers of clothing and linens fresh, pleasant smelling, and moth-free. No so far, but getting closer. It is used by draughtsmen yes, and scale comes into it yes. Its used to measure something specific from a drawing or map.
