Guest toofastsupra
I've got a 95 mkiv has been overheating so bad that I couldn't drive more than 15 miles before i had to pull over and wait for it to cool down. Made it home today and checked everything out in the garage, my stock fans have not been activating at all and are completely shot. At this point I'm thinking of upgrading the radiator and fans all together. I ran across the mishimoto radiator and hose kit for my car at a decent price, but I saw on their website they have bolt on fan shroud kits that come with slim fans for the supra. Anyone use these yet? I'm thinkin about gettin it all at once so I can get the full package and not have to worry about replacing this stuff in the future. I know plenty of people who vouch for the mishimoto radiator and hoses so im not worried about that but has anyone had personal experience using them? http://www.mishimoto.com/aluminum-fan-shroud-kits.html any feedback would be helpful, thanks guys

paul mac
struggling to figure whats occuring here, your stock fans are shot, what stock fans, you should have one great big belt driven one and a couple of weeny ones for the air con, whats not working ?, the fan kit you have listed looks suspiciously cheap and does not give a CFM (cubic feet/minute) figure for the fans, they need to be up in the 2000 CFM range each to do a decent job, at that price i would suspect they are not
TLicense
What's more if the stock fan fails, the viscous coupling locks up so the fan is driven 100% of the time...
bigbloodyturbo
would have thought a broken fan would only cause overheating when sitting in traffic or after really hammering it, not in normal driving. Maybe there's another problem other than a fan not working, would be sh!t to find that out after spending money on something you dont need. Luka-P
The viscous fan is belt driven? Are the fan blades all intact and is the shroud in place? I'd be tempted to say thermostat, if its happening during normal driving. EDIT - Just thought, if the fan isn't going round then the water pump is probably shot. Stick with the stock viscous unit.

Stick with the stock viscous unit. missed that bit, i was right in my assumption though, the stock fan shifts in excess of 3000 CFM, so no these 12" ers are not up to the job, sometimes size does matter
Guest toofastsupra
wow, lots of good replies here, thanks for all of the help guys. My friend looks like he has everything figured out at this point, had to replace a few things but should be good to go in a few days. I appreciate all of the suggestions and will check all of the factors you mentioned when we get the replacement parts in. keep you posted when i get an update, thanks again!
