Leaking brake fluid - help needed

Hi guys

Just got car out of garage this morning and when I went to shut garage door noticed fluid on floor where front passenger wheel was.

So after a quick change of plan went to my mates tyre garage to get it on the ramps.

Leaking fluid from the top of the caliper. Whilst I was pumping the pedal apparently it was pushing fluid out.

So, does this sound like the caliper is knackered? OR could it be something leading to the caliper. If so how much am I looking at for another?

The car is a J-spec

Also if anyone has one lying around let me know!!!

Cheers

Change of plans. Upon closer inspection it is the caliper itself that is cracked around the nipple area.

I have attached a picture showing the damage - sorry for the clarity its from my phone!

So looks like I need a new caliper ASAP

Anyone who has one for sale feel free to email or PM

Cheers

This I have seen before, on Justins old car. A mechanic had used his torque elbow and over tighted the nipple. You were both very lucky that you did not find out under emergency braking.

Some monkey has over tighten your bleeding nipple:eek:

When will people learn that these things just need gentle pressure to seal the  system

if its leaking out of your calipher, are your levels in the brake fluid reservoir low?

If it is leaking then yes it will be low, but I guess that is immaterial as the car can not be driven and the system will need flushing and bleeding when a new caliper or calipers are fitted.:innocent:

I had exactly the same problem when I first bought my Supe, again, turned out to be an overtightened nipple !!!

The caliper body had a crack and I had to buy a new uk spec caliper, £200 from Toyota Leeds. :)
