Ewen
Brilliant opening sequence, disappointing baddie, obviously a continuation of a mini series, very good use of Tosca, some familiar looking boats, extremely enjoyable. Crap title song.
Digsy
Brilliant opening sequence, disappointing baddie Same as Casino Royale then I'm seriously looking forward to seeing this, though. But I'll let the crowds die down a bit first. And yeah, I think the title song is pretty weak as well.

ivan
So were you there courtesy of your boss Ewen? Anyone comprehend the movie title yet? It's a phrase that was found in one of Ian Flemings notebooks (he wrote everything that came into his head down if he thought it could be of use in a book or two). Mike
Terrible title track... Jack White is an amazing guitarist, but his sound is well past it's sell by date. The whole thing feels like some MTV awards duet that doesn't quite work... rock and soul eh?
Sharpie
I purchased an eternity ring for my wife last month and the jewellers who I purchased it from, called me this week and said that as a valued customer, they would like to give me free 007 tickets for tomorrow night at my local cinema.....no strings attached! Result!

stevie_b
I think it's referring to the inner peace that he has to find for himself. That's what I'd say too: a "quantum of solace" would be a small amount of solace, but better than none.
Ewen
So were you there courtesy of your boss Ewen? Saturday just gone, 'cast and crew preview' over in London. A few tickets fluttered down from on high and I snaffled a couple. My boss can be spotted briefly, driving one of the bad guys boats...or at least the back of his head can. Good crack, tied it in with a birthday weekend for the wife.
Ewen
Quantum of Solace has a greater meaning within the plot forming over the last film and this one, and the plans for the next two, but you will suss that when you see it...which I highly recommend you do. stevie_b
I saw it last night: very impressed. I like the whole Bond franchise and regard myself as a Bond geek, but QOS was very enjoyable. I even quite liked the title song, I think it's a grower... I heard James King's review of it on radio 1 a few hours before. I completely agreed with what he said: gone are the witty one-liner days of Roger Moore et al: Austin Powers killed that off. Gone also are Q and his crazy gadgets, but I thought they were getting a bit silly anyway, and didn't fit into the storylines any more.

Going to see this in the week so hopefully it will be as good as Casino Royale:) Watched Tomorrow Never Dies last night ( only bond film i had not seen) and what a crock of shit.... stevie_b
I agree, I think Tomorrow Never Dies is the worst Bond film of modern times. The bad guy is cheesy (yes, I know most of them are, but this one seems to try to be serious...?), a bad caricature of Rupert Murdoch or Robert Maxwell. Casino Royale is a slow burner: people expect to see lots of gadgets, Q, one-liners, and Bond blowing up the bad guy's underground lair at the end, but it didn't provide those things (and is better for it, but it means it got a grilling for people who did want them). QoS is more fast-paced, and more exciting than CR.

AndrewOW
I thought the title: 'Quantum of Solace' was perfect. He's aching at the death of his love, but he's got to carry on and finish the job, so any moment he has to himself would only be the briefest. I'm looking forward to seeing this. Title song though, what a crock of sh*te IMO, and I like Alecia Keys normally!
RiceRocket
Bourne trilogy FTW. YEAH I'll second that.
Ewen
Bourne trilogy FTW. I agree in a way. Each of the alleged four Craig episodes is part of a whole, and if what I've read is accurate then Quantum of Solace plays a part in all four. Each film is complete in itself, but will make a far more cohesive story when they are all seen in order. The down to earth (realistic) style begs comparisons with the Bourne films....the gadgets are gone, the hero is now a lot colder and more independent. A totally different Bond. Bourne did this type of new-age spy stuff very well, but perhaps once all the new Bond results are in he will pip Bourne at the post. Along with others on here, I grew up with Bond and have my favorites in style and characters...Craig is fine, and although the story lines are a little lacking in the world domination dept., the action / direction / spectacle is still there giving me a quantum of hope that ultimately Bond has not had his day. hoff
Saw it last night and thought it was pretty good. More action than the last. The plots seem a lot weaker at the moment and the bad guys less endering. The plots, though less believable before, were better with the cold war and space race backrounds. And, must agree Bourne..wow. I'd stll rather be Indy though:D
