SupraGirlie
Firstly, I just went to take the roof off my car for the first time... and it won't come off! All the four screws un do perfectly and they are in excellent condition, I even have the original aero tool, but the middle screw is completely rounded off and I can't un do it so the roof won't come off, what can I use? Secondly, car won't start.. the car has some rubbish unbranded aftermarket alarm which goes off if you press either of the buttons on the fob, and when I tried to start the car, it made a clicky noise so I pressed a load of buttons again and nothing, now I don't even get the clicky noise, just nothing! It has a seperate immobiliser thing which if put near a little LED, it lights up, is the car just immobilized or something else? The stereo won't light up but the dash lights do which is strange.. Keeping in mind the car hasn't been driven in 6 months (except when I drove it home 25 miles) and only a done a couple thousand miles in the last 3 years.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have to get it to the bodyshop on thursday for it's respray and service! Ewen
The front centre roof lock... Get an allen key slightly larger than the original. Gently file each of the six sides on the short end of the allen key to form a slight taper...do this in small steps a bit at a time, and try the key in the locking socket each time you file a bit off. You will need to push the allen key hard into the lock...with a bit of luck you will get enough 'grip' to turn it (it unlocks by turning anti-clockwise remember). You could carefully tap the allen key in harder with a small hammer, but take it easy. If it works, and you can unlock it, you will probably be fine to leave the middle lock unlocked all the time...I had the same issue, and it was ok for me. Thanks, I will try this tomorrow don't know about the roof but could the battery be dead if it hasn't been used for a while????? jump start! I thought this but why would it suddenly die, and all the lights work except my radio?! I will go try to jump start it now!
Ark
Agreed - the central bolt does nothing for strength or security.
kosmic
It could well be a flat battery, it will light up the dash but not anything else which takes a bit more power, id avoid using a jump start if you can....use a slow trickle charger. Also the low battery could cause the alarm to go into tamper mode i.e. thinking someone has disconnected the battery and immobilised the car...so first things first get the battery charged...ill pop over and have a look when/if i collect the Bomex
