bignum
Since doing my single conversion lots of things have gone tits up. When i was bpu my car was mechanically sound, ie, everything worked fine, no oil leaks, since the single went on which i got running in march ive had oil leaks on; Rear crank seal Cam cover turbo oil feed turbo return sandwich plate Rear gearbox seal (now) Powersteering pump Diff weeping I only need the front seal now and it`ll be a full house,, it might just be coincidence and i havn`t even done a trackday on the single yet, that will be the real test before the ring next month, moan over............ Gaz6002
Mate the single conversion is rarely a walk in the park. You wait until you get it running right though and you'll understand it's worth it really
Pig
Sorry to hear this, single is a right PITA, when it works without problems its all worth while though
R Black
Shame about the grief your having its meant to be worth it though. Unfortunately i cant afford the expense of going single or even the V8 route, so i will have to stick with say bpu or bpu with the odd + & hopefully stay problem free. Mines all up and running now @ 1.4 bar i just need to get these little problems sorted to enjoy it abit.
tooquicktostop
I feel for you, mine was just finished and was due to run today, fluids going in and we have just found out the heater matrix is leaking, so that has ruined my day starting to get on my nerves this bloody car now, and as for the cost well thats another issue ! Chris Wilson
Track days and singles are not good bedfellows unless they are spot on perfect. My crystal ball of doom predicts warped flanges causing turbo blowing when you take it on track. I assume you have a tubular manifold and have compounded the issues with a spacer plate between it and the turbo flange? Hope I'm wrong, but I am quietly confident My single on my Skyline was a labour of love with lots of bespoke bits to get around Mr Apexi's ideas of what makes a sound set up. bolarbag
Thats why its costing me and taking longer to do than I thought! I'm replacing all the seals (Hadnt included gearbox seal), and I'm spending the extra to convert all my water lines/feeds and returns to an lines, incl the radiator e.t.c My cars only done 55k miles, they probably dont need done(valve stem oil seals certianly didnt, along with most of the others), but I'm doing them anyway so I can keep it on the road for as long as pos, and enjoy my track days I intend to machine the collector flange and turbine flange flat, hopefully they dont warp and leak Hopefully your car will be running good now!
